Pain , whether it be acute or chronic pain, limits your activities, can sap your energy, occupy your thoughts, and have a significant negative impact on your home and work life.
Acupuncture targets pain in two ways - locally, at the site of strain or injury, by reducing inflammation and increasing tissue oxygenation.
Acupuncture also works at the brain level, where pain receptors receive and relay information sent from the body, and responds by releasing natural painkillers (endorphins) and anti-inflammatory agents.
Stress Management is an often overlooked but very clinically important health care focus. Chronic Stress increases cortisol production, which has a cascade effect that negatively influences metabolism, leading to reduced immunity, higher blood pressure, decreased energy or ability to focus, decreased digestion and assimilation of nutrients, retention of belly fat, emotional, hormonal and sleep disturbances.
Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, targeted nutritional supplementation, and simple lifestyle modifications (such as adding walking, Yoga, Meditation, gardening and reducing screen time) can all make significant positive changes in your overall health and wellbeing!
Acupuncture is very effective to treat Sports Injuries or to enhance Sports Performance by relieving inflammation, increasing oxygenation at the local area of injury or overuse, relaxing spasmed muscles, tendons, and tensed fascial bands.
Often, the repetitive motions in sports activities such as tennis, golf, and running can create chronic strained muscles, tendons, and ligaments, or can irritate nerve bundles (as in Tennis Elbow).
Acupuncture from a doctor who is trained in Sports Medicine and Functional Movement therapies can not only quickly and relatively painlessly relieve pain and inflammation, but also improve muscle/tendon health and strength, thereby improving Sports Performance.
It is no wonder that professional athletes, from golfers to swimmers to baseball and football players regularly use Acupuncture and Cupping to treat injuries and improve performance!
Live Long, Live Well: Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine have been successfully used for thousands of years to promote optimum physical and mental wellbeing, leading to natural rejuvenation of facial and body appearance and increased longevity.
These effects are created by the stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system by Acupuncture, which increases tissue oxygenation and blood vessel perfusion, improves the tone of facial skin and muscles (by relaxing areas of excess tension and tightening loose areas), helps the body release toxins from the cells and organs, and stimulates the natural release of collagen at the superficial skin level.
